For a project of the ESA - European Space Agency, ROLF KIND has produced a 340 kg sphere with a diameter of 424 mm from the particularly resistant and heavy-to-machine material Alloy 718 / W. Nr. 2.4668 / UNS N07718. The End customer will now grind about 1200 facets into the sphere in order to serve as a "laser mirror", with which the gravitational field of the earth is to be passively studied.
